Curriculum Impact
How we measure impact
We use assessment to inform our teaching and planning to ensure that children make progress and have a good understanding of what they have learned.
Formative Assessment
This is an informal method of checking what children know and can remember and also to check on misconceptions. Formative assessment can take the form of questions, recap and recall and class discussion to name but a few.
Summative Assessment
This comprises more formal assessments such as end of unit tests, spelling tests, multiplication tests, unaided writing and reading comprehension exercises. This type of assessement takes place on a regular basis.
Both types of assessment are used to inform Teacher Assessments recorded on Target Tracker.
Statutory Testing
We are required to undertake the following tests :-
Reception Baseline Assessment – carried out in the first half term of the reception year
Year 1 Phonics Check – carried out in the summer term
Year 2 Statutory Assessment Tests (SATs) carried out in the first half of the summer term
Year 4 Multiplication Check – carried out in the Summer Term
Year 6 Statutory Assessment Tests (SATs) carried out in May
