Safeguarding at Fordham All Saints Primary School
Our safeguarding culture is underpinned by our school vision: “All things are possible to those who believe” (Mark 9:23). We believe that by nurturing faith, character, and courage, we empower children to grow into compassionate, confident individuals who know how to protect themselves and others.
At Fordham All Saints, safeguarding is a shared responsibility and a central part of our school culture. We are fully committed to keeping children safe, and this commitment is upheld by all staff, governors, volunteers, and visitors. Every child has the right to feel safe, valued, and protected from harm.
We follow robust safeguarding policies and procedures, in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (2025). All staff receive regular training and are confident in identifying and reporting concerns. Our Designated Safeguarding Leads are always available to offer support and take swift, appropriate action when needed.
Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do, because every child deserves to grow up safe, happy, and ready to thrive.
Safeguarding in the Curriculum
We strive to create a caring, open environment where children feel confident to speak up. Safeguarding is embedded across our curriculum, with particular emphasis in PSHE, where children learn how to keep themselves safe, make informed choices, and seek help when needed.
Age-appropriate lessons explore:
- Healthy relationships
- Online safety
- Recognising trusted adults
- Understanding personal boundaries
These topics are taught within a safe, supportive framework that encourages discussion and reflection.
Assemblies and Wider Opportunities
In addition to Collective Worship, we deliver assemblies that reinforce safeguarding themes and promote values that help children make safe, respectful choices. Examples include:
- Road Safety, including Bikeability for Year 6
- World Mental Health Day – 10th October 2025
- Bonfire Night Safety
- Anti-Bullying Week – 10th–15th November 2025
- Safer Internet Day – 11th February 2026
- Sun and Water Safety – Visits from Essex Fire and Rescue Service
- Cyberbullying Workshop – Year 6
We also welcome external visitors such as Essex Highways and Essex Fire and Rescue Service, who deliver engaging workshops for pupils and families. These sessions help strengthen our community’s understanding of how to keep children safe, both online and offline.
