Pupil Leadership and Responsibilities
At our school, we believe that “all things are possible to those who believe.” This vision shapes every aspect of our community, including the way we nurture confident, compassionate, and responsible young leaders. Pupil leadership is a vital part of our culture and strengthens pupils’ personal growth. Through meaningful leadership opportunities, pupils learn to contribute positively to school life, develop character, and understand the importance of service to others.
Developing Confident, Capable Leaders
We provide a wide range of leadership roles that allow pupils to grow in confidence, practise responsibility, and make a genuine difference to the life of the school. These roles help pupils to:
- Strengthen communication and teamwork skills
- Build resilience, independence, and self-belief
- Contribute to a respectful, inclusive school culture
- Understand democratic processes and shared decision‑making
- Live out our Christian values through service, kindness, and integrity
These experiences enrich pupils’ personal development and prepare them for the next stage of their education and life beyond primary school.
Leadership Roles Across the School
Year 6 Leadership Roles
Our oldest pupils take on key responsibilities that model excellence for the rest of the school. These include:
Prefects – supporting routines, modelling behaviour, and helping younger pupils
Worship Leaders – shaping collective worship and promoting our Christian ethos
House Captains – encouraging teamwork, leading house events, and celebrating achievements
Office Monitors – assisting Mrs Coutts by ensuring messages and letters get to teachers at the end of the day.
Play Leaders – organising games, promoting positive play, and supporting wellbeing at breaktimes
At the end of Year 5, pupils are invited to apply for these leadership roles by writing a letter of interest to the Head of School. In their application, they explain why they feel suited to the role, the qualities they can bring, and how they hope to contribute to school life. Each pupil then receives an individual reply from the Head, offering them a position. This personalised response is a real highlight for the children and marks an exciting step into their final year at primary school.

Year 5 Leadership Opportunities
LIFE Trust Ambassadors – pupils chosen by their peers, represent our school within the Trust, sharing pupil voice, and promoting collaboration across schools.
Pupil Parliament (EYFS – Year 6)
Two representatives from each year group sit on our Pupil Parliament, ensuring that every child has a voice. Through this democratic forum, pupils discuss school improvement ideas, lead projects, and help shape the future of our community and understand how they can contribute to society.
Through these varied leadership opportunities, our pupils learn that their ideas matter, their actions have impact, and their belief in themselves can open doors. In living out our vision, they discover that with faith, determination, and courage, all things are possible.
